Cara Delevingne has opened up about the emotional experience of premiering her latest film, 'Club Kids,' at the Cannes Film Festival, admitting she has 'never cried so much' while watching her own work. The model-turned-actress attended the world premiere alongside the cast and crew, where the indie comedy-drama garnered an impressive seven-minute standing ovation.

A Deeply Emotional Screening

Speaking in the Elvis Mitchell Suite, Delevingne shared how watching the film with her co-stars and a live audience was an incredibly intense experience. 'I think I haven't cried and laughed that much in a movie,' she said. 'To be able to feel that range of emotion through watching something with everyone next to you in the cast is just amazing.' She added that hearing 14-year-old breakout star Reggie Absolom, who plays her on-screen son Arlo, crying beside her along with his mother behind him, underscored the true meaning of family.

The Story of 'Club Kids'

The American comedy-drama, directed and written by first-time filmmaker Jordan Firstman, follows Peter, a drug-addled party promoter whose chaotic life is upended when he must raise a 10-year-old son, Arlo, whom he never knew existed. Set against the changing landscape of New York's underground queer nightlife, the film has been praised by critics for its unbiased portrayal of club culture. Delevingne plays Sophie, Peter's business partner, whose professional relationship with him deteriorates amid the hedonistic party lifestyle.

Reflections on Club Culture

Delevingne reflected on the film's depiction of clubs as a double-edged sword. 'It starts off as the home, and it becomes this like trying to hold on to this thing that isn't actually really all tangible,' she mused. The actress, known for roles in 'Paper Towns,' 'Suicide Squad,' 'Valerian,' and 'Carnival Row,' noted that the clubs initially represented a family for the characters but later symbolized something elusive they desperately tried to grasp.

Cannes Red Carpet Moments

Never one to shy away from bold fashion, Delevingne turned heads at Cannes with a dramatic 80s rockstar-inspired voluminous hairstyle for the photocall, paired with a sheer blue pinstripe suit. For the main gala premiere, she switched to a backless black Tom Ford gown. Last year, she made headlines with a dark wet-look fringed hairstyle that lasted less than 24 hours before she reverted to her signature blonde locks.
