Greene warns of US revolution if Trump sends troops to Iran

Marjorie Taylor Greene has warned that there would be a "political revolution" in the United States if President Donald Trump deploys American soldiers to Iran. The former Republican representative and one-time Trump ally issued the stark warning on Sunday, though the specific trigger remains unclear. Reports indicate that the US and Israel are preparing for renewed hostilities amid a fragile month-old ceasefire.

"If you send in U.S. military troops into Iran, there is going to be a political revolution in America. WE. ARE. DONE. We said no more foreign wars and we meant it," Greene wrote in a post on X. "The coalition will unite and be unstoppable. I'll make sure of it." She added, "End this war. It's stupid."

Trump's threats and stalled negotiations

The warning follows Trump's latest social media outburst directed at Tehran, where he stated that the "clock is ticking" as peace negotiations between the US and Iran stall. "For Iran, the Clock is Ticking, and they better get moving, FAST, or there won't be anything left of them. TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE," Trump wrote on Truth Social.

The president recently rejected Iran's response to Washington's latest peace proposal as "totally unacceptable." Tehran has requested separate nuclear talks from the peace negotiations, further complicating the diplomatic process.

Greene's break with Trump

Greene has repeatedly voiced her opposition to the US war against Iran. Shortly after the conflict began, she directly questioned President Trump's "mental state." In an interview with conservative commentator Megyn Kelly two days after the opening strikes, Greene said: "I want to say, what is happening to the man that I supported, you supported, the man that denounced what happened in Iraq, the man that said 'No more foreign wars,' 'No more regime change?'"

She continued: "Promised it on the campaign. JD Vance promised it. Tulsi Gabbard promised it, all of them promised it. And we're a year in, a year in, and we're in another f‑‑‑ing war, and we've got American troops being killed."

Greene was once a close ally of the president and echoed his claims that the 2020 presidential election was "stolen." However, since last year, the former representative for Georgia's 14th congressional district has broken with Trump over several domestic and foreign policy positions. These include his decision to launch airstrikes on Iran last June, his support for Israel during the war in Gaza, and insufficient regulation of big tech companies.
