Hollyoaks actress Jessica Fox has revealed she was rushed to hospital after a painful accident involving a wine bottle on the set of the Channel 4 soap. The 42-year-old star, who plays Nancy Hayton, shared details of the incident in a candid TikTok video posted on Tuesday, April 7, where she confessed that "it all went to s***" during a particularly challenging period.
On-Set Accident Leads to Emergency Treatment
Fox explained that the accident occurred when she returned to the Hollyoaks set following a sinus infection. "During a scene, I tripped holding a wine bottle, and I smashed it on my hand," she recalled. The impact caused significant wounds to her left pinky and ring fingers, which required immediate medical attention.
"I had to go to A&E - well, walk-in centre, and then they sent me to A&E - and the service, I have to say, was absolutely phenomenal," Fox stated. "But it did mean I needed to have some stitches in this hand." She described the injury as "the straw that broke the camel's back" during an already difficult time.
Multiple Health Battles and Parenting Challenges
The wine bottle incident capped off a series of health issues for the actress and her family. Fox revealed that both she and her three-year-old son River had been battling chest infections, while she also dealt with a sinus infection. Compounding these challenges, she has been managing as a "solo parent" while her husband, musician Nicholas Willes, is away for extended periods.
"I'm starting to feel better," Fox later admitted, though she branded solo parenting with an injured hand as a "f****** farce." She expressed nervousness about removing her bandages, noting that "it still stings quite a lot" and that accidentally squeezing the injured area caused "white hot pain" throughout her entire body.
