Iran has threatened to respond with 'full strength' to any attack, following a warning from Donald Trump that there would be nothing left of the country if a peace deal was not reached quickly. Iranian foreign ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei stated that Tehran is seriously pursuing diplomacy but will not be subdued by threats, promising 'surprises' for any enemy.
Trump’s Ultimatum
Donald Trump had previously urged on his Truth Social platform that the 'clock is ticking' to end the war, as peace talks appear to have stalled. The former president’s warning came amid escalating tensions between the two nations.
Iran’s Preparedness
Baqaei emphasised Iran's full preparedness for any scenario and warned of a strong response to any reckless action. 'We will not be intimidated by threats, and we have surprises in store for any aggressor,' he said.
Peace Efforts via Pakistan
Iran is understood to have relayed its latest peace offer to the United States via Pakistan, although a Pakistani source noted that both sides continue to change their demands. The source added that negotiations remain fragile.
In a related development, US Senator Lindsey Graham called on Trump to strike energy infrastructure in Iran, saying 'hurt them more' to force concessions. The call has further strained diplomatic efforts.
