King Charles and Queen Camilla were greeted by President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump on Monday as they arrived at the White House, marking the beginning of their four-day state visit to the United States.
The royal couple headed inside the executive mansion for a private tea and a garden party with guests representing US-UK connections.
Prior to their arrival, the US State Department shared a video honouring the relationship between the two nations. "We walk together in majesty, in justice, and in peace. President Trump welcomes King Charles and Queen Camilla for a historic State Visit this week," the department wrote.
Further activities in Washington D.C. will include a state arrival ceremony with military honours, a bilateral meeting between King Charles and President Trump in the Oval Office, an address to both houses of Congress, and a state dinner.
The visit underscores the strong diplomatic ties between the United Kingdom and the United States, with a series of high-profile engagements planned over the coming days.
