Kris Marshall is set to reprise his role as DI Humphrey Goodman in a crossover episode that will see him return to the island of Saint Marie, six years after leaving Death In Paradise. The actor, who stars in the BBC spin-off Beyond Paradise, will make the emotional return in the series finale, which airs next weekend.
A teaser video shows Humphrey returning to his former beach shack and encountering a familiar face from his past. BBC bosses have teased that fans will be excited by the crossover, with Marshall expressing his delight at returning to Guadeloupe to rekindle his passion for the island.
The final episode of Beyond Paradise sees the Shipton Abbot police team face a tricky burglary case. The crime appears to point to local criminal Atticus Styles, but forensic evidence suggests a different culprit—one who was locked in a police cell at the time. Meanwhile, Humphrey is struggling with recent events and considering his future in Shipton Abbott.
Marshall previously hinted at the possibility of a special episode bringing together all former Death In Paradise detectives. He told Digital Spy that he would love to see all four detectives in one show, describing it as a “meta thing where their worlds collide.”
