Britain's Got Talent Fans Declare Show 'Finished' After KSI's Controversial Golden Buzzer
Britain's Got Talent viewers have erupted in fury following a recent episode, with many threatening to switch off after guest judge KSI used his golden buzzer on a bizarre act. The decision has sparked widespread criticism, with fans branding it the "worst golden buzzer" in the show's long-running history.
Audition Episode Ends in Uproar
During the final auditions of the 19th series on Saturday, April 18, hopefuls from across the nation showcased their talents to impress judges Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon, and special guest KSI. As usual, contestants aimed for the £250,000 cash prize and a slot at the Royal Variety Performance, with the golden buzzer offering a direct pass to the live shows.
However, the evening took a controversial turn when performer Mr Cherry took the stage. A 44-year-old comedian and strongman, who holds a Guinness World Record and previously appeared on America's Got Talent in 2021, left the audience stunned with his peculiar routine.
Mr Cherry's Unusual Performance
Mr Cherry began by opening a stubborn jar of pickles, a task that neither KSI nor Simon Cowell could accomplish. He then escalated his act by crushing cans by sitting on them, before stripping down and opening wine bottles with his buttocks, leaving judges and viewers alike astounded.
Despite visible discomfort from the panel throughout the performance, KSI shocked everyone by slamming his golden buzzer. In a chaotic moment, he dashed onto the stage, slipped on falling confetti, and took Mr Cherry down with him. Returning to his seat, KSI declared, "Ladies and Gentlemen, I don't know about you but that was the greatest thing I have ever seen."
Viewer Backlash on Social Media
Reaction from home audiences was overwhelmingly negative, with many taking to social media to express their disappointment. One furious fan wrote, "I'm sorry this show is finished #bgt," while another commented, "A Golden Buzzer? How bloody ridiculous #KSI #BGT #BritainsGotTalent."
A third viewer posted, "WTF?! Why the hell did KSI give that act the golden buzzer, when he spent the entirety of it squirming uncomfortably? It's beyond a joke." Others chimed in with remarks like "Worst Golden Buzzer #BGT" and "KSI HOW IS THAT GOLDEN BUZZER WORTHY???" highlighting the depth of fan discontent.
The controversy has raised questions about the judging criteria and the future appeal of the show, as loyal viewers voice their threats to abandon the series. Britain's Got Talent continues to air Saturday nights from 7pm on ITV and ITVX, but this incident may have lasting repercussions for its reputation.
