Former Strictly Come Dancing contestant La Voix has expressed her strong desire to take on a presenting role on the show, even revealing her ideal co-host. The drag star, who was forced to withdraw from last year's series due to a foot injury, says she is 'manifesting a presenting role daily' and has already received a call from the BBC—though she jokes it was about moving her car, not a job offer.
La Voix, the stage persona of Christopher Dennis, 46, is keen to return to the ballroom in any capacity, whether on the main show or spin-off It Takes Two. 'I'm absolutely holding out for any involvement in that show. I loved it,' she said. 'Not many people get to go back.'
The race for the top job has seen several names rule themselves out, including Graham Norton, Alison Hammond, and Amanda Holden. La Voix quipped: 'Did they get asked? If I don't get it I'll say that. It's the oldest trick in the book.'
When it comes to a potential co-host, La Voix has her sights set on Jane McDonald. 'Jane McDonald would be a great side kick,' she said. 'I'd like someone camp and fabulous.' Another name in the mix is Zoe Ball, whom La Voix knows from doing her make-up for years. 'Then she got a job on radio, the death knell for make-up artists,' she joked.
La Voix also shared her thoughts on judge Craig Revel Horwood, describing him as 'that old puppy dog' and 'like a Rottweiler in a care home'. She added: 'Leave it to me to bring some youth and vibrancy to the show.' Meanwhile, she recalled the terror of performing a cha cha in front of head judge Shirley Ballas after receiving a score of two, but said the show was a 'beautiful personal moment' and that the acceptance from the British public was 'amazing'.
Since leaving Strictly, La Voix has taken on the role of Miss Hannigan in a touring production of Annie, following in the footsteps of Craig Revel Horwood. She will also perform on TUI's Marella cruises next month. However, she made clear: 'I'd clear my diary for [Strictly]'.
