Livvy Dunne Opens Up About Her First In-Person Acting Audition Experience
Former NCAA gymnast and prominent social media influencer Livvy Dunne has publicly shared details about her inaugural in-person acting audition. Dunne, who has transitioned from competitive sports into the realms of social media, brand endorsements, and now acting, revealed this significant career step in a recent interview.
Auditioning for HBO's The White Lotus
In a cover story for the April edition of Boardroom, Dunne disclosed that she auditioned for a role in the fourth season of HBO's critically acclaimed dark comedy series, The White Lotus. She described the experience as reminiscent of her athletic past, stating she "felt like I was an athlete again" during the process.
Dunne admitted to initial nerves, comparing the pressure to her gymnastics performances. "I was obviously a bit nervous at first. I was like, 'Oh man, what if I forget the lines.' Pause. I've done things way harder than this in my life. Whoa. I flipped on a beam in front of 13,500 people," she told Boardroom co-founder Rich Kleiman.
Why She Didn't Get the Part
Despite her enthusiasm, Dunne did not secure the role in The White Lotus. She reflected on the audition, noting, "It's different. I think I would rather have done a backflip in front of the casting director, but I mean, I went there, I put it all out there. It was my first audition." She emphasized that the experience was ultimately enjoyable and educational, sparking her interest in pursuing more acting opportunities.
Moving Forward with Baywatch and More Auditions
Since that initial audition, Dunne has successfully landed a role in the upcoming reboot of the 1990s television classic Baywatch, set to premiere on Fox in the 2026-27 television season. She has been actively engaging in numerous auditions and working diligently with an acting coach to hone her skills.
"Naturally, I gravitate towards things that are more creative," Dunne explained. "My family is quite creative. I come from a family of entrepreneurs. I would love to dive into acting. I've been doing lots of auditions and rehearsing scripts and getting used to that lifestyle, which has been amazing because it's something I've been passionate about ever since I was in college."
Balancing New Ventures with Athletic Roots
Dunne highlighted the challenges of balancing her previous life as a student-athlete with brand partnerships, which led her to fully embrace acting after college. She credited her mother for assisting with script memorization and praised her acting coach for their support.
While venturing into acting, Dunne has not completely severed ties with the sports world. She recently acquired equity in NOBULL, a fitness company led by Tom Brady, demonstrating her ongoing connection to athletics. Additionally, her modeling career, including multiple appearances in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit edition, has prepared her for roles like Baywatch, where she will showcase her talents in a bathing suit for audiences.
Dunne's journey from gymnastics to acting underscores her adaptability and creative drive, marking an exciting new chapter in her professional life.
