Back to the Future Star Matt Clark Dies at 89 After Surgery Complications

Matt Clark, the American actor best known for his role as the bartender in Back to the Future Part III, has died at the age of 89. His family confirmed that he passed away following complications from back surgery.

In a statement, his family said: 'He kept his closest friendships for sixty years. He showed up for the work, and for his people, every time. He was complex. He was tough. He could be gruff. But the moral compass never wavered, and the love was never in doubt.'

Born in Washington, D.C. in 1936, Clark grew up in Arlington, Virginia. He served in the US Army and studied business administration before moving to New York to train at HB Studio. He made his screen debut in 1964's Black Like Me.
