Pro-Palestine Activists Vandalise Glasgow Insurance Office

Pro-Palestine activists have vandalised an insurance office in Glasgow as part of a nationwide campaign of direct action. The attack targeted the offices of Allianz Insurance, which the group claims has links to Israeli defence company Elbit.

The incident is the latest in a series of demonstrations by Palestine Action, which has also sprayed red paint on Allianz's London offices and vandalised US President Donald Trump's Turnberry golf course in South Ayrshire. The group has been accused of causing millions of pounds of criminal damage.

Home Secretary Yvette Cooper condemned the group, stating that it had 'orchestrated a nationwide campaign of direct criminal action against businesses and institutions'. She highlighted previous attacks, including those at Thales in Glasgow in 2022 and at Instro Precision in Kent and Elbit Systems UK in Bristol last year.

Police have arrested three people in connection with recent protests near Trafalgar Square, where clashes broke out between activists and officers. A Met Police spokesperson said two were arrested for obstruction and a third for a racially aggravated public order offence.

Police chief Sir Mark Rowley expressed frustration that the protest went ahead, describing Palestine Action as an 'organised extremist criminal group' whose proscription as terrorists is being considered. The group, however, called the police response 'draconian'.
