Haunting Final Message of WWE Star Chris Benoit Resurfaces After Murder-Suicide

A chilling voicemail left by WWE star Chris Benoit has resurfaced, nearly two decades after he murdered his wife and son before taking his own life. In June 2007, Benoit killed his wife Nancy and their seven-year-old son Daniel at their home in Fayetteville, Georgia, then hanged himself using gym equipment in the basement.

In the days leading up to the tragedy, Benoit sent a series of unsettling messages to fellow wrestler Chavo Guerrero. One voicemail to another friend, disclosed by police, mentioned that his dogs were outside and the back door was open—a message now seen as a grim sign that something was wrong.

When Benoit failed to appear at a WWE pay-per-view event, concerns grew. A welfare check on June 25, 2007, led police to discover the bodies. Investigators determined the murders occurred over three days: Benoit strangled Nancy, then sedated and suffocated Daniel before killing himself.

Benoit, aged 40 at the time, was a highly respected wrestler. A post-mortem examination revealed severe brain damage consistent with chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE), likened to advanced Alzheimer's. WWE initially aired a tribute but later erased Benoit from its history, omitting him from the Hall of Fame and rarely mentioning his name.
