A 23-year-old Iranian fashion student was shot in the back of the head and later buried at the roadside, as the clerical regime's violent crackdown on nationwide protests continues.
A Fatal Shot Outside College
According to the Iran Human Rights group, Rubina Aminian was killed at close range on 8 January 2026. The textile and fashion design student was shot from behind after leaving Shariati College in Tehran, where she had joined mass demonstrations against the government.
Sources close to her family confirmed the brutal circumstances of her death. The protests, which initially erupted over the country's severe economic collapse, have faced a harsh and lethal response from state authorities.
Family Forced into Roadside Burial
In a further act of intimidation, Ms Aminian's family was reportedly prevented from holding a proper funeral. After travelling to Tehran to identify her body, they returned home to find it surrounded by intelligence forces.
Under duress, the family was compelled to bury Rubina Aminian by the side of a road in Kermanshah. This act highlights the extreme measures used to suppress mourning and dissent, aiming to deter others from joining the protest movement.
Escalating Crackdown and International Tensions
The death of Rubina Aminian is not an isolated incident. The human rights group HRANA reports that over 500 people have been killed since the protests began. Iranian authorities have escalated their warnings, stating that protesters now face the potential of the death penalty.
The situation has drawn sharp international reactions. Former US President Donald Trump stated that the United States is considering "some very strong options" regarding Iran and threatened to "hit them hard" if protesters are killed. In response, Tehran has issued warnings of preemptive strikes against Israeli and US bases if it comes under attack.
