In a nail-biting final, Bulgaria’s act DARA spectacularly won the 70th annual Eurovision Song Contest, held in Vienna. This marks the first victory for Bulgaria. DARA, a renowned star in her homeland known for hits such as “Thunder” and “Call Me,” captivated audiences and secured the top spot.
Israel's Controversial Second Place
Israel came second with entry Noam Bettan, but the competition was surrounded by controversy. Five countries withdrew from the contest in protest of Israel's participation. At one point, Israel led the voting, prompting boos and jeers from the audience.
UK's Disappointing Performance
The United Kingdom finished last, receiving just one point from Ukraine. This result spared them from nul points, but the act, Look Mum No Computer, was savaged on social media. One user branded the performance “a crime against humanity,” reflecting widespread criticism.
Australia's Missed Opportunity
Australia, a late favourite, failed to secure the crown despite strong jury support. A lacklustre audience vote prevented them from taking the title, leaving fans disappointed.
The final was a spectacular event, with Bulgaria emerging victorious in a contest marked by political tension and musical drama.
