In a nail-biting final, Bulgaria’s act DARA spectacularly won the 70th annual Eurovision Song Contest, held in Vienna. This marks the first victory for Bulgaria in the competition's history. DARA, a well-established star in her home country known for hits such as “Thunder” and “Call Me”, captivated audiences and secured the top spot.
Israel Takes Second Amid Controversy
Israel came second with entry Noam Bettan, but the competition was surrounded by controversy due to Israel's participation. Five countries withdrew from the contest in protest, casting a shadow over the event.
UK's Disastrous Performance
The United Kingdom finished last, receiving just one point from Ukraine. This meant it was not nul points for the act Look Mum, No Computer, but the performance was savaged on social media. One user branded it “a crime against humanity”, reflecting widespread criticism.
Australia, a late favourite, failed to take the crown despite strong jury support, as a lacklustre audience vote dashed their hopes.
The full results show Bulgaria's triumph, Israel's runner-up position, and the UK's dismal last-place finish, marking a memorable and contentious edition of Eurovision.
