Coventry City owner Doug King has expressed his desire to keep Frank Lampard at the club following their promotion to the Premier League. Lampard, who has a year left on his contract, has been linked with a return to Chelsea, but King hopes the former England international will stay for the club's top-flight return.
King told The Football Boardroom Podcast: 'Frank knows how I think of him. He is a very skilled operator, and he has taken and developed our team to the Championship title with no parachute payments.' He added that conversations about Lampard's future will take place as the club prepares for the next adventure.
Meanwhile, on-loan Brighton goalkeeper Carl Rushworth has been shortlisted for Championship Player of the Season and is keen to extend his stay at Coventry. King confirmed the club tried to sign him permanently before agreeing a loan without an option to buy, but declined to comment further on the situation.
