Former NRL star Chad Townsend experienced a serious medical scare while travelling to Las Vegas, requiring emergency intervention from paramedics after losing consciousness mid-flight. The incident occurred as the 35-year-old retired rugby league player was en route to Sin City to record content for his sponsored podcast.

According to reports from Nine journalist Danny Weidler, Townsend suddenly fainted during the journey, experiencing sensations of feeling both hot and cold simultaneously. The alarming situation forced other passengers to wait while medical professionals attended to the premiership-winning athlete on the aircraft itself.
Post-Incident Recovery
Despite the concerning episode, Townsend is said to be okay according to the latest reports, with sources confirming the incident was not related to alcohol consumption. The former Cronulla Sharks halfback even managed to post photographs to his Instagram account showing him smiling after arriving at Las Vegas airport early Thursday morning Australian time.
Townsend, who retired last year after playing six first-grade games with the Sydney Roosters, had previously shared departure photos from Sydney before the medical incident occurred. Following the drama in Vegas, he posted an Instagram story praising the Perth Bears team for their signing of Penrith forward Scott Sorensen.

Last year, Townsend revealed an amusing encounter with law enforcement during his final match for the Roosters' NSW Cup side in September. Traffic congestion prevented him and teammates from reaching the ground on time by car, prompting them to rent Lime bikes for a desperate dash to the match.
"Then a police officer sees me, and I didn't have a helmet on because the Lime bike didn't have a helmet," Townsend explained. "So he's like, 'mate, you can't ride that bike without a helmet'. So I hopped off the bike – in full Roosters gear – just hoping no one takes a photo."
The group eventually navigated through crowds and back streets on their bicycles before arriving at the game. Despite the chaotic preparation, Townsend concluded his football career triumphantly, converting a late try as the Roosters dominated the Magpies 50-18.
