Chloe Kim's Romantic Turnaround with NFL Star Myles Garrett

Olympic snowboarder Chloe Kim has opened up about her journey from nearly abandoning love to finding romance with NFL defensive star Myles Garrett. The athlete, who secured a silver medal in the halfpipe at the Milan-Cortina Games last month, disclosed that her dating life was fraught with challenges before Garrett entered the picture.

Struggles with Fame and Success in Relationships

Kim explained that some past partners struggled to cope with her early achievements and public profile. "I think there was a weird dynamic shift where it's like, I have my own house that I bought when I was 21. I have all these things, and I'm always busy - people know who I am, I have followers on Instagram," she shared on the Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast. The snowboarder felt misunderstood and unappreciated, leading to frustration. "I just want someone to not be intimidated by me and my success because I don't carry myself in that way," she added.

Ready to Swear Off Relationships

During the 2025 X Games, Kim vented to her physical therapist about her romantic woes, declaring she was done with dating. "I was like, 'I can’t date anymore. I’m done, I'm just going to be single forever,'" she recalled. "I was being so dramatic [saying], 'I’m going to get a sperm donor, I don't need a man. I just want kids and I'm going to live happy and free.'" She outlined her ideal partner criteria, including being tall, handsome, kind, family-oriented, and equally or more successful than herself.

An Introduction That Changed Everything

It was her therapist, Vin, who connected Kim with Myles Garrett, having also worked with the NFL Defensive Player of the Year. Initially skeptical, Kim agreed to a quick FaceTime introduction, which sparked their relationship. Garrett, the Cleveland Browns defensive end, flew to Livigno, Italy, shortly after the Super Bowl to cheer on Kim at the Winter Olympics. He watched her qualify for the women's snowboard halfpipe final and stood by her as she competed for what could have been a record-breaking gold medal.

Olympic Support and Silver Medal Finish

Although Kim ultimately earned a silver medal behind South Korean protégé Ga-on Choi, she celebrated the moment with Choi, her family, and Garrett in the crowd. Ever the sportswoman, Kim embraced the outcome gracefully. Meanwhile, Garrett now looks forward to a well-deserved offseason after completing his first full season under a long-term contract extension.

Kim's story highlights the pressures of fame on personal relationships and the serendipitous connection that brought her and Garrett together, proving that love can emerge even when one is ready to give up.
