DWP Confirms Early Payments for May Bank Holidays

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has confirmed that some recipients of State Pension and certain benefits will receive their payments earlier than usual in May due to bank holidays. Payments scheduled for Monday, May 4, will be issued on Friday, May 1, and those due on Monday, May 25, will arrive on Friday, May 22.

Why Payments Are Being Made Early

DWP offices and phone lines will be closed on the bank holidays, and payments are typically processed only when all services are fully operational, including webchat and Jobcentre Plus offices. This affects payments from DWP, HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC), and Social Security Scotland.

Affected Payments from DWP

  • Attendance Allowance
  • Carer's Allowance
  • Employment Support Allowance (ESA)
  • Income Support
  • Jobseeker's Allowance (JSA)
  • Pension Credit
  • Personal Independence Payment (PIP)
  • State Pension
  • Universal Credit

Affected Payments from HMRC

  • Child Benefit
  • Guardian's Allowance

Affected Payments from Social Security Scotland

  • Adult Disability Payment
  • Child Disability Payment
  • Scottish Child Payment
  • Carer Support Payment
  • Pension Age Disability Payment
  • Scottish Adult Disability Living Allowance

Social Security Scotland has confirmed that Best Start Foods payments will not be affected. If your payment is not due on either bank holiday date, it will be paid as normal.
