Emmerdale fans have been left furious after ITV cancelled the soap tonight due to an overrunning Euro 2024 match between Spain and Germany. The episode was originally scheduled for 8.30pm but was pulled as the game went into extra time.
ITV confirmed that Emmerdale will not air this evening, though Coronation Street will still air at 9pm as planned, clashing with Love Island. The postponed episode was set to feature Paddy encouraging Mandy to apologise, Sarah's fury, and Gabby sensing something wrong, as well as fallout from Caleb's confession and Nicky and Suni's exit.
Fans took to social media to vent their frustration. One wrote: 'They always mess around with the soap schedules on itv #Emmerdale #Corrie.' Another added: 'ITV have dropped #Emmerdale at the last minute but it’s on ITVX.' A third commented: '#emmerdale no Emmerdale tonight football is a pain in the a*** scrap it all.'
Despite the disappointment, soap producer Sophie Roper teased upcoming storylines, including a Dingle funeral for the late Zak Dingle and a wedding for Mandy and Paddy. She said: 'The Dingles have been at the heart of our show for 30 years... we're going to be marking Zak’s passing in the coming months with a Dingle funeral.' She added: 'Mandy and Paddy building towards a wedding... it's going to be very fun.'
