Jordon Ibe Arrested at Luton Airport on Assault Charge

Former Liverpool footballer Jordon Ibe has been arrested and charged with causing actual bodily harm after landing in the United Kingdom. The 30-year-old winger, who currently plays for Bulgarian club Lokomotiv Sofia, was taken into custody at Luton Airport on January 30 following a flight from Bulgaria.

Details of the Arrest and Charge

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson confirmed to The Sun that Ibe was charged in connection with an alleged assault that took place on Sunday, December 14, 2025. The spokesperson stated, "Jordon Ibe has been charged with actual bodily harm. The charge relates to an assault alleged to have taken place on Sunday December 14, 2025. He was arrested at Luton Airport on Friday January 30 and taken into custody."

The former England under-21 international has been granted bail and is scheduled to appear at Croydon Magistrates' Court on March 6 to face the charge. The alleged offence occurred in December, with Ibe returning to the UK specifically to address the legal matter.

Ibe's Football Career and Recent Moves

Jordon Ibe rose to prominence during his time at Liverpool, where he played from 2012 to 2016, making 58 appearances and scoring four goals. He later joined Bournemouth for a club-record fee of £15 million, highlighting his value at the peak of his career.

In recent years, Ibe's career has seen significant changes. He left Sittingbourne FC, an eighth-tier English club, in November to join Lokomotiv Sofia in the Bulgarian top flight. This move marked his 11th club overall, following stints in Turkey with Adanaspor and a period in non-league football after his return from abroad.

In December, Lokomotiv Sofia announced Ibe's signing with a two-year contract, expressing optimism about his future. The club stated, "After a few difficult seasons, Jordan is ready to revive his career, and we all believe that this will happen at Lokomotiv. The management of Lokomotiv wishes Jordon Ibe much health, happiness and success with the red and black jersey."

The arrest comes at a pivotal time as Ibe seeks to rebuild his professional football career in Bulgaria. His court appearance in March will determine the legal outcome of the assault charge, potentially impacting his playing status and future in the sport.
