Luke Littler Secures Impressive Betting Win at Cheltenham Festival
Darts world champion Luke Littler enjoyed a significant financial triumph at the Cheltenham Festival on Wednesday, pocketing £2,500 from a successful wager. The 19-year-old, affectionately known as 'The Nuke', was seen celebrating enthusiastically in the stands as his bet on the 9/1 winner King Rasko Grey paid off handsomely.
A Lucrative Day at the Races
Littler placed a £250 bet on King Rasko Grey in the Turners Novices' Hurdle, the first race of the day at the renowned Cheltenham racecourse. The horse narrowly defeated competitors including Act Of Innocence (10/1), Zeus Power (50/1), and Soldier Reeves (150/1), securing Littler a return of £2,500. He shared the exciting news via an Instagram story, highlighting his joy at the outcome.
This betting success came just days after Littler won £120,000 for his victory at the UK Open darts tournament on Sunday, underscoring a period of remarkable achievement for the young athlete.
High-Stakes Company and Charitable Gestures
Notably, online tipster Pro Sports Advice, also known as Robert Heneghan, stood next to Littler and netted an even larger windfall of £50,000 after staking £5,000 on the same race. Both bets were successful, with Littler applauding and cheering from the stands as King Rasko Grey crossed the finish line.
In a related incident, darts competitor Luke Humphries, who was seen celebrating with Littler, followed Heneghan's advice on the festival's opening day. Humphries earned £3,250 from a £1,000 bet on 9/4 favourite Old Park Star in the Sky Bet Supreme Novices' Hurdle and generously donated his winnings to charity.
Littler's Dominant Form and Future Prospects
Littler and Humphries currently lead the PDC Order of Merit, having shared over £4 million in prize money between them. Littler's recent performances have been particularly impressive, with the teenager securing his maiden Premier League night victory in Cardiff just three days before his UK Open win.
Reflecting on his current form, Littler stated, 'I had a little dry spell, but I think I can say I'm back. The form hasn't gone my way in the Premier League, so to win in Cardiff meant a lot. I played well in patches, missed a lot of doubles, but if I can win major titles not playing my best, what can I do playing my best?'
Looking ahead, Littler is aiming to extend his nine-match winning streak in the Premier League, with a quarter-final encounter against Gerwyn Price scheduled for Thursday in Nottingham. His combination of darts excellence and betting luck continues to captivate fans and observers alike.
