A recent survey has revealed that a significant majority of Britons struggle to identify some of the world's most famous landmarks. The study, conducted by Travelbag, polled 2,000 participants and found that European landmarks were particularly challenging.
The Berlin TV Tower topped the list, with 88.5% of respondents unable to correctly identify it. Notably, 15.8% mistook it for the Seattle Space Needle. Other poorly recognised landmarks included Bangkok's Wat Arun (87.6% incorrect) and Tokyo Tower (85.8% incorrect), which many confused with the Eiffel Tower.
Birmingham emerged as the UK city with the poorest landmark knowledge, averaging 63.6% incorrect answers. London followed closely with 58.6%, and Manchester came third with 57.2%. The findings highlight a lack of familiarity with global icons among British residents.
Zara Kitching, Head of Sales at Travelbag, commented on the results, suggesting that travellers should consider their interests when choosing destinations. She noted that North America offers diverse experiences, from urban skylines to natural wonders like the Grand Canyon.
