Arne Slot Sacked After Three Complaints From Liverpool Stars

Liverpool have sacked manager Arne Slot just 12 months after he led the club to the Premier League title, following reported complaints from senior players. According to The Athletic, three key issues prompted the dressing-room unrest that ultimately cost the Dutchman his job.

The first complaint centred on Slot's decision to deploy Dominik Szoboszlai at right-back after Conor Bradley suffered a season-ending injury. Szoboszlai had been in excellent form and was considered one of Liverpool's most important players, but the positional change was seen as limiting his effectiveness.

Secondly, there was a perception among the squad that summer recruits were afforded greater leeway than existing members. New signings, including Florian Wirtz, Alexander Isak and Jeremie Frimpong, were reportedly not held to the same expectations and could deliver below-par performances while retaining their place in the starting XI.

The third complaint related to tactical confusion during a defeat to Aston Villa, where players were left baffled over their set-piece defensive responsibilities. An inquiry took place in the dressing room, with tensions beginning to surface. Just a week earlier, Slot had been booed off the pitch by the Anfield faithful after a home draw against Chelsea.

Liverpool finished fifth in the Premier League on 60 points, 24 points fewer than their title-winning tally the previous season. Slot was informed of his dismissal one week after the final fixture of the campaign.
