Lucien Laviscount, known for his role as Alfie in Netflix's Emily in Paris, has revealed that football icon David Beckham was instrumental in starting his acting career. The 29-year-old actor shared the story in an interview with Grazia, explaining how a chance encounter with Beckham led him to pursue acting.
Laviscount, who previously appeared in British shows such as Grange Hill, Waterloo Road, and Coronation Street, got his first break through a modelling campaign with Marks and Spencer. He was cast alongside David Beckham, and it was on set that Beckham noticed his potential.
“I was a naughty little boy on set, and David comes over and he says ‘Lucien, you're a funny lad - you should get into acting’,” Laviscount recalled. Beckham then arranged for an assistant to contact an acting school in Manchester, which led to Laviscount's first formal training.
Laviscount admitted he had no idea what acting was at the time. “That's how I started, which is kind of wild,” he said. The actor has since built a successful career, including roles in American series Scream Queens and Katy Keene, as well as a stint on Celebrity Big Brother in 2011.
