Selling Sunset star Chrishell Stause has publicly attacked singer Katharine McPhee on social media after McPhee helped organize a star-studded fundraiser for Los Angeles mayoral candidate Spencer Pratt. The incident unfolded in response to a TikTok video posted by influencer Jordy Cray, which criticized McPhee for her relationship history, including past infidelity, and for backing Pratt.
Stause's Accusations
In the comments section of the video, Stause, 44, accused McPhee, 42, of supporting 'problematic men.' She wrote, 'One day she will find her real inner confidence but it won’t come until after she is discarded enough times by the problematic men she backs. An insecure woman will steal your man, and give the worst advice.' The Daily Mail has reached out to representatives for McPhee and her husband, David Foster, for comment.
McPhee's Relationship History
The TikTok video also highlighted McPhee's May-December romance with Foster, 76, whom she married in 2019, becoming the record producer's fifth wife. Stause's comment appeared to allude to a 2013 incident in which McPhee was pictured kissing Michael Morris, a director on her series Smash, while both were married. At the time, McPhee was married to Nick Cokas, while Morris was married to actress Mary McCormack. McPhee later filed for divorce from Cokas in 2014, citing a year-long separation. In a 2016 interview, she expressed no regrets, stating she learned deeply from her choices.
Political Disagreements
Stause may have also taken issue with McPhee's support for Pratt, a former Hills star and registered Republican running to unseat incumbent LA Mayor Karen Bass. In April, Stause urged fans on Threads to avoid voting for reality star politicians, writing, 'Can I please implore NO MORE reality star politicians PLEASE! I have nothing against Spencer! I like him on TV! NOT in the government tho???? CA please pull it together????' Several commenters on Cray's TikTok agreed with Stause, while others criticized her for blaming McPhee's actions on the men in her life, noting that McPhee had donated to the National Republican Senatorial Committee in 2020.
The Fundraiser Event
McPhee and Foster hosted a fundraiser for Pratt at their Los Angeles home earlier this month, inviting celebrities and wealthy donors. At the event, McPhee performed a modified version of Tina Turner's hit 'The Best,' changing lyrics to boast that Pratt is 'better than Karen Bass and Nithya Raman,' while Foster accompanied her on keyboard. However, McPhee mistakenly referred to Raman as 'Cynthia' during the performance, a slip that Pratt shrugged off. Pratt has been a vocal critic of Bass's handling of the LA Fires and the city's homelessness and crime issues.
