Christina Grimmie's Family on Grief 10 Years After Murder

Ten years after the tragic death of singer Christina Grimmie, her family has spoken about their ongoing grief. The 22-year-old former Voice contestant was shot dead by Kevin Loibl, a 27-year-old 'deranged fan', after a concert in Orlando, Florida, in 2016.

Loibl, armed with two handguns, a hunting knife and extra ammunition, confronted Grimmie as she signed autographs. He then shot himself dead after being tackled by her brother, Marcus. Police said Loibl's motive remains unknown.

Grimmie's family, including her mother, father and brother, have struggled with the loss. A GoFundMe page set up by Selena Gomez's stepfather, Brian Teefey, raised over $4,000 to support them. Teefey described Grimmie as 'like a second daughter'.

The Plaza Live venue suspended all activities after the incident. Grimmie's YouTube career, discovered by Teefey in 2010, had led to her appearing on the US version of The Voice.
