Coronation Street viewers believe they have uncovered the cause of death in next week's murder whodunnit, with a new theory pointing to a scaffolding accident. Fans spotted a scene where Gary Windass was sorting scaffolding on the street as Theo Silverton approached him, sparking speculation that Theo may tamper with the equipment.
Theo, who has been exposed for abusing Todd Grimshaw, is one of five potential victims alongside Carl Webster, Jodie Ramsey, Maggie Driscoll and Megan Walsh. However, some fans suggest Theo could be the killer rather than the victim, given his history of violence — he previously left Billy Mayhew to die.
The theory proposes that Theo will interfere with the scaffolding to frame Gary or cause harm, leading to a fatal collapse. This would echo Theo's arrival on the show as a scaffolder, when a colleague nearly dropped a metal pole on Julie Carp. One fan commented: 'New theory: Theo tampers with the scaffolding to frame Gary but it collapses on the victim.' Another added: 'Definitely think Theo will mess with scaffolding.'
However, the storyline is billed as a whodunnit, so another character could be involved, pushing the victim into the scaffolding. Alternatively, the scaffolding may be a red herring. Coronation Street airs weeknights at 8.30pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
