Olivia Nuzzi's ex-boyfriend, Ryan Lizza, has alleged that the journalist planned to 'consummate' her affair with Robert F Kennedy Jr at a Trump rally in August 2024. Lizza, a former Politico reporter, made the claims in a blog post on his website Telos News, titled 'Part 4: Means of Control'.
According to Lizza, Nuzzi and Kennedy Jr intended to meet at Trump's rally on August 23, 2024, the same evening Kennedy endorsed the now-president. Lizza wrote that the timing was 'perfect' as Kennedy would no longer be a presidential candidate, reducing media attention, and he would no longer have Secret Service protection. Lizza also claimed Nuzzi planned to give Kennedy a 1943 edition of the comic 'Brenda Starr, Girl Reporter'.
Lizza stated that the rendezvous was thwarted when he was assigned to cover the same rally and discovered the alleged affair shortly before. He said Nuzzi cancelled the meeting. The following day, Lizza confronted Kennedy Jr by phone, who calmly denied any relationship and said he was 'sorry if you're having a bad time'.
Lizza further alleged that Kennedy Jr exhibited 'extreme paranoia' and exerted control over Nuzzi, persuading her to delete an audio recording from court artist Isabelle Brourman. The recording allegedly captured Trump saying something that cast doubt on the official story behind his bloody ear, sustained during an assassination attempt on July 13, 2024. Nuzzi later told Lizza she could not corroborate Brourman's recollection.
Details of Nuzzi's alleged 'digital relationship' with Kennedy Jr have been widely reported, with a source claiming she sent him 'increasingly pornographic' images. Court documents filed by Nuzzi also allege Kennedy Jr said he wanted to 'possess', 'control', and 'impregnate' her. However, Nuzzi has denied a physical relationship, and a spokesperson for Kennedy Jr stated he only met her once.
