House Democrats have released new photographs and videos from Jeffrey Epstein's private Caribbean island, Little St James, offering a rare glimpse into the property where the late sex offender is alleged to have trafficked young girls. The materials, obtained from law enforcement in the US Virgin Islands, were taken in 2020, a year after Epstein died by suicide in jail.
The images show Epstein's home, including bedrooms, a telephone, what appears to be an office or library, and a chalkboard with the words 'fin', 'intellectual', 'deception' and 'power'. Several photos depict a room with a dentist chair and masks on the wall. The New York Times reported that Epstein's last girlfriend was a dentist who shared an office with one of his shell companies.
Little St James, one of two islands Epstein owned in the US Virgin Islands, was nicknamed 'pedophile island' by some locals. In 2022, the US Virgin Islands attorney general reached a settlement of over $100m with Epstein's estate, alleging that 'dozens of young women and children were trafficked, raped, sexually assaulted and held captive' on the island.
While the images do not reveal new information, they appear to be part of an effort by Congress to pressure the Trump administration ahead of a 19 December deadline for the justice department to release related files. A bipartisan group of lawmakers has also asked US Attorney General Pam Bondi for a status update.
'These new images are a disturbing look into the world of Jeffrey Epstein and his island,' said Robert Garcia, ranking member on the House oversight committee. 'We are releasing these photos and videos to ensure public transparency in our investigation and to help piece together the full picture of Epstein's horrific crimes.' Garcia added that the panel had received records from JP Morgan and Deutsche Bank, which would be released in the coming days.
