Coronation Street star Jonathan Howard has revealed that his character Carl Webster's attack will have 'life-changing' consequences. The actor, who plays the villain, spoke exclusively to The Mirror about the fallout from last week's dramatic events.
Carl was left lifeless after being crushed by a car at the garage, an attack carried out by Ronnie Bailey. Ronnie had intervened after Carl attempted to tamper with the vehicle, and later dropped him off at the hospital. While it initially seemed Ronnie might kill Carl, Monday's episode confirmed his survival.
Howard teased that the attack will be transformative for Carl, saying: 'I think the events that went on through this week will be life-changing for him. Hopefully there's a chance for him to redeem himself a little bit.' He expressed hope that Carl would retain his cheeky, chaotic nature while learning from his mistakes.
The actor also addressed rumours of an exit, stating: 'I would be very grateful for the time I have had here... I am having a great time on Coronation Street so I don't wanna be killed off quite yet.' Coronation Street airs weeknights at 8:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
