Bob Harris, the veteran broadcaster known for his passion for country music, is stepping back from his regular show on BBC Radio 2. The station announced a series of spring highlights, including a tribute to Harris from fellow presenter Kay.
Kay, who hosts a weekend show on Radio 2, paid tribute to Harris, saying: 'Bob is a legend of broadcasting and a true champion of country music. His contribution to Radio 2 is immeasurable.' Harris has been a staple on the station for decades, particularly known for his 'Bob Harris Country' show.
The spring schedule also includes a new weekly show with Zoe Ball, a celebration of Elaine Paige's 60-year career, and a move for 'Pick of the Pops' to a Sunday slot. Helen Thomas, Head of Radio 2, said: 'We are thrilled to announce these changes, which reflect our commitment to diverse music and beloved presenters.'
Harris's departure marks the end of an era for country music on Radio 2, but the station promises to continue its support for the genre with its biggest ever commitment to country programming.
