Mollie King has revealed the heartbreaking reason behind her decision to have a planned C-section for the birth of her first child. The Saturdays singer, 38, welcomed daughter Annabella in 2022 with cricketer fiancé Stuart Broad.
Shortly before Annabella's birth, Mollie's father was diagnosed with a brain tumour and given just two weeks to live. Determined that he should meet his granddaughter, she opted for a C-section to ensure a safe and timely delivery.
Speaking on the Happy Mums podcast, Mollie explained: 'I was really worried that he wasn't going to meet Annabella. I was like, I can't have him not meet my kids.' She added that hospital staff were understanding once she shared her situation, booking her in immediately.
Her father met Annabella once before passing away 10 days later. Mollie described the experience as 'really difficult' but expressed gratitude that he was able to see her as a mother.
The couple, who also have daughter Liliana born in 2025, are yet to marry. Mollie told The Times that she struggles with the thought of walking down the aisle without her father, saying: 'There needs to be a gap so I can process it all.'
