PM Starmer Joins Celebrities for Soccer Aid Training

Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer has been spotted training alongside celebrities for the upcoming Soccer Aid charity match, which raises funds for Unicef. The event, held at the Etihad Stadium, brings together sporting icons and famous faces to support vulnerable children worldwide.

Starmer participated in training sessions with former footballers including Wayne Rooney, Gary Neville, Jamie Carragher, and Paul Scholes, who came out of retirement for the occasion. The match saw the World XI defeat England 3-0, with Kem Cetinay scoring twice and Lee Mack netting his first Soccer Aid goal.

Despite the loss, the event successfully raised over £13 million, contributing to the £47 million total raised since Soccer Aid began in 2006. David Beckham, watching from the stands, praised his former Manchester United teammates, stating, "You never lose it."

The match also featured a notable moment when Jamie Carragher beat Usain Bolt in a race for the ball. Other highlights included Clarence Seedorf hitting the post and Patrice Evra being denied by David James. Mark Clattenburg officiated, controversially not showing a red card to Carragher for a foul on Cetinay.
