Seth Rogen accepted the Actor Award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Comedy Series on behalf of the late Catherine O'Hara at the BAFTA Awards on Sunday. The co-creator of Apple TV+ series The Studio described it as a 'very sad honour' as the audience rose to its feet.
Rogen reflected on O'Hara's generosity and talent, noting that she never diminished her own abilities while being kind and gracious. He recalled how she would email him and co-creator Evan Goldberg before each shooting day with a completely rewritten version of her scene, which always improved the show.
'She really showed that you can be a genius and be kind,' Rogen said. The camera captured tearful reactions from co-stars Kathryn Hahn and Jenna Ortega, who was nominated against O'Hara in the same category.
O'Hara, known for roles in Home Alone, Schitt's Creek, and Beetlejuice, died in January at age 71 from a pulmonary embolism with rectal cancer as the underlying cause. She was a two-time Emmy winner.
