Casemiro Could Make Shock U-Turn and Stay at Man United, Claims Cunha
Casemiro U-Turn? Cunha Hints Star Might Stay at Man United

Matheus Cunha has revealed that Casemiro could make a dramatic U-turn and remain at Manchester United next season, despite the Brazilian midfielder previously announcing his departure from Old Trafford this summer.

Casemiro's Potential Stay at Old Trafford

Casemiro, one of Manchester United's highest-paid players, has been expected to leave the club to reduce the wage bill under co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe. The 33-year-old has held talks with David Beckham's Inter Miami and is anticipated to join Lionel Messi in Major League Soccer. However, his international teammate Matheus Cunha has now cast doubt on that move.

Cunha, speaking after United's Champions League-qualifying win over Liverpool, said: "I play with him in the national team and I know how important he is. He's an amazing guy. And yeah, to have this guy in the dressing room is a privilege. We don't know in the end how it is with his contract, and then of course we, everyone, hopes there's a little bit more. Of course, of course, I know it's harder than we talked about, but yeah, in the end, you never know."

Cunha Backs Carrick for Permanent Role

In addition to discussing Casemiro's future, Cunha has urged United's hierarchy to appoint interim manager Michael Carrick on a permanent basis. Carrick has transformed the team's fortunes since taking over, securing Champions League football with three games to spare after a victory over bitter rivals Liverpool.

Cunha praised Carrick's impact, stating: "I don't think it's in my hands, but what he did, he's full of confidence in the group. I think he has the magic with like these Ferguson times. To be part of everything, when he did this, it's amazing. He's a pleasure, and of course, I think he deserves it."

United's Ambitions for Next Season

The Brazilian forward, who scored the opening goal in the crucial win over Liverpool, emphasized the need for United to build on their success. "I think when you're coming to a club like United, these kinds of clubs need to be in the Champions League. But not only in the Champions League, we need to fight for all the titles. I think we could come much stronger for next season, and then we try to do what we think about," he added.

Cunha also reflected on the significance of Champions League football for Manchester United, saying: "You know, it's one of the biggest privileges I have to play at this club, and we know the goal of the season is to be there. I think Champions League without this club is not the same competition, and this club without Champions League is not the same club."
