Zack Polanski, the Green party leader, has been accused of misleading the public over his claims to have immediately apologised for a 2013 interview in which he offered hypnosis to increase breast size. The BBC has uncovered an interview from six days after the original Sun article, in which Polanski stood by his claims.
In the 2013 Sun interview, Polanski, then a hypnotherapist, agreed to attempt to enlarge a journalist's breasts through hypnosis. The article reported a four-inch increase, though no change in cup size. Polanski later said he apologised in a BBC interview the day after the Sun article, but the BBC could not locate such an interview.
Instead, BBC Humberside found an interview from June 2013, six days after the Sun piece. In it, Polanski described the session as “a successful project” and said there was “anecdotal evidence at least of a growth in breast size”. He stated, “I believe that it can happen in theory.”
A Labour source criticised Polanski, saying, “It’s now clear that his pretence to have been misrepresented over his breast enlargement hypnosis scam was absolute nonsense – he got called out years later.”
Polanski has repeatedly apologised for the episode, saying in May last year that he was “a young Londoner who was holding down four jobs” and that he saw it as a way to discuss body image. A Green party source said, “Zack has repeatedly apologised for an interview he did with the Sun more than a decade ago. Now, Zack is focused on the issues that really matter to people.”
