Newcastle Face Summer Overhaul as Gordon Replacement Sought and £45m Midfielder Targeted

Newcastle United are bracing for a major squad rebuild this summer after a disappointing 12th-place finish in the Premier League, their worst in five years. Missing out on European football has put pressure on the club to sell key players to comply with Profit and Sustainability Rules, with Anthony Gordon expected to join Barcelona for £69.8 million on a £300,000-a-week contract.

To replace Gordon, Newcastle are targeting West Ham's Jarrod Bowen, valued at around £45 million after the Hammers' relegation. The 29-year-old can play across the front line and would be a relative bargain. Another option is Manchester City's Savinho, 22, who could be available on loan and offers a more like-for-like replacement.

Defensive reinforcements are also a priority, with Kieran Trippier and Emil Krafth set to leave as free agents. Newcastle have held talks with Reims goalkeeper Ewen Jaouen, but the 20-year-old may not be ready for the first team. Borussia Dortmund's Gregor Kobel is a more experienced option but would cost over £43 million. Alternatively, James Trafford could be available from Manchester City after Gianluigi Donnarumma's arrival.

At right-back, Celta Vigo's Oscar Mingueza is a potential free transfer target, given Tino Livramento's injury struggles. Newcastle are expected to be active in the market to mount a top-six challenge next season.
