Controversial internet personality Andrew Tate has made a surprising admission about a potential heavyweight boxing clash with Tyson Fury, stating that while he is open to the idea, he believes the spectacle would be "boring".
Tate's Candid Assessment of a Fury Showdown
During a recent interview with Boxing King Media, Tate shared his thoughts on the possibility of stepping into the ring with the 'Gypsy King'. The discussion followed news of the high-profile bout between Anthony Joshua and Jake Paul, which is set for Friday, December 19 in Miami and will stream live on Netflix.
"That would be a fight. He is a big man! I am a huge fan of Tyson Fury. And I am a huge fan of Anthony Joshua," Tate stated. He expressed admiration for many top fighters but questioned the entertainment value of a clash with Fury. "I do not know how good of a fight it would be in the build-up because in showbusiness you are supposed to insult people, but I am a huge Tyson Fury fan. I would just sit there and say 'listen sir, I am going to try my best to beat you, but I think you are fantastic.'"
Fury's Potential Return and the Riyadh Season Plans
Tate's comments come amid speculation about Fury's boxing future. The two-time heavyweight champion announced his retirement in January 2025 after a second loss to Oleksandr Usyk but has since teased a comeback, posting training videos online.
Reports last week indicated that Fury and Anthony Joshua are finally set for a long-awaited summer showdown. According to The Ring, both men will first compete in separate fights as part of the Riyadh Season events. Joshua's next step is his professional eight-round bout against YouTuber Jake Paul this Friday.
Tate's Immediate Focus and Ongoing Legal Issues
Before any dream match with Fury could materialise, Andrew Tate has his own immediate boxing commitment. He is scheduled to make his Misfits Boxing debut this weekend against the reigning heavyweight champion of the promotion, Chase DeMoor.
The 39-year-old influencer continues to deal with significant issues outside the ring. He still faces criminal charges in the UK, including allegations of rape, which he denies.
Meanwhile, Jake Paul has boldly claimed he will disrupt the plans for a Fury-Joshua fight by scoring an upset victory over 'AJ'. "I am knocking this guy out... and it is going to be me versus Tyson Fury next year," Paul declared at a press conference, comparing his potential shock win to Andy Ruiz Jr's victory over Joshua in 2019.
