British heavyweight boxing champion Anthony Joshua has been involved in a fatal road traffic accident in Nigeria, resulting in the tragic deaths of two close members of his team.
Details of the Tragic Collision
The incident occurred on Monday, 29 December 2025, on the busy Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. According to the preliminary report from Nigeria's Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), the black Lexus Jeep carrying Joshua and four others collided with a stationary red commercial Sinotruck.
The FRSC stated the Jeep was suspected of travelling beyond the legal speed limit and lost control while attempting an overtaking manoeuvre, crashing into the truck which was parked at the roadside.
Victims and Survivors
The crash claimed the lives of two of Joshua's companions: Sina Ghami, his strength and conditioning coach, and Kevin ‘Lateef’ Ayodele, his personal trainer and close friend. Both men were described by an official spokesperson as "integral members of Anthony’s team."
The 36-year-old two-time world champion was taken to hospital and treated for minor injuries. Two other male passengers in the vehicle survived the collision without harm.
Judi Love's Emotional Plea to the Public
In the wake of the tragedy, videos and images from the crash scene began circulating on social media. This prompted a powerful intervention from comedian and television presenter Judi Love.
Taking to her Instagram Stories, Love issued a heartfelt plea for sensitivity and privacy. "Please STOP posting and sharing videos or images of the AJ accident or any other horrific traumatic events," she wrote.
She emphasised the profound grief of the families affected, stating, "People have lost their lives, and these images can deeply affect the families who are already grieving. Think of their pain and the harm caused... At this moment, AJ and the families truly need our prayers."
Team Joshua Mourns Profound Loss
The loss of Ayodele and Ghami represents a devastating blow to Joshua's inner circle. Ghami had been part of Team Joshua for over a decade, also working with high-profile athletes like NBA star Draymond Green. Ayodele, known as 'Latz', was considered one of the boxer's closest confidants.
An official statement from Joshua's camp confirmed the deaths with "deepest and most profound sadness," respectfully requesting space and privacy for the grieving families as they process the shocking news.
