The mother of internet sensation turned boxer Jake Paul has launched a furious verbal attack on promoter Eddie Hearn, stating she wanted to 'punch' him following her son's devastating defeat to Anthony Joshua last weekend.
A Mother's Fury in the Aftermath
Pam Stepnick, mother to both Jake and Logan Paul, praised former heavyweight world champion Anthony Joshua for his conduct after he stopped her son with a brutal knockout blow during their high-profile fight in Florida. However, she directed her anger squarely at Joshua's promoter, Eddie Hearn.
Speaking on the Impaulsive podcast, Stepnick accused Hearn of looking unbearably 'smug' in the immediate aftermath of the contest, while her son was struggling with a broken jaw. "I want to get in the ring and punch Eddie Hearn for instance, because I don't like his smug face," she stated. "He literally thinks he is better than everybody in the world."
She described the promoter as sitting and "smiling like he's the cat that swallowed the canary," adding pointedly, "Guess what, did he f***ing get in the ring." When questioned if she believed Hearn was happy about the outcome, she called the thought "sickening."
Joshua's Class and Paul's Severe Injuries
In stark contrast, Stepnick highlighted Anthony Joshua's respectful behaviour. She explained that the victorious fighter made his way through the crowd to apologise to her for the brutal nature of the knockout. "Even Anthony Joshua had some class and apologised to me," she said, recounting how he told her, "mum just know, it's just boxing. It is just the fight game."
Jake Paul's brother, Logan, conceded this point, admitting it was the 'fight game' and that his brother may have 'bitten off more than he could chew' by facing an elite-level operator like Joshua.
The medical fallout from the single punch is severe. Paul reportedly suffered a parasymphysis fracture on the right side of his jaw, coupled with a fracture to the body of the mandible. Due to the fracture line running through the roots of his teeth, he is likely to need dental implants after the initial healing, followed by crowns.
This extensive process means it could be at least nine months before the influencer-turned-boxer regains around 90 per cent of his jaw strength.
A History of Maternal Protectiveness
This is not the first time Pam Stepnick has been vocal about her sons' boxing endeavours. Last year, ahead of Jake Paul's scheduled fight with Mike Tyson, she claimed she wanted to 'kill' the legendary former champion after he slapped her son during a heated face-off.
Despite the painful defeat and significant injury, the financial rewards from the event were substantial. It is reported that Paul and Joshua shared a staggering £140 million from the fight purse and associated revenue generated last weekend.
