Boxing star Tommy Fury has publicly advised his older brother, former heavyweight world champion Tyson Fury, to remain in retirement and savour time with his young family.
Family First Plea Amid Comeback Talk
The 'Gypsy King', aged 37, officially hung up his gloves in January 2025 following consecutive defeats to his Ukrainian rival, Oleksandr Usyk. However, recent activity suggests a major U-turn is imminent. Tyson Fury has been intensively training in Thailand and has expressed his desire to fight again in the first quarter of 2026.
Despite this, younger sibling Tommy believes Tyson has nothing left to prove. "I would love to see him retire and stay retired," Tommy stated in an interview with BoxNation. He emphasised that health is your wealth, particularly in the dangerous heavyweight division, and pointed to Tyson's unparalleled achievements and financial security.
"He has won every single belt there is. They're all up there in his front room. He has earned more money than you could even imagine," Tommy said. "He has got young kids. Enjoy them!"
Fury's Comeback Plans and Potential Opponents
Tyson Fury, who will turn 38 this year, has been vocal about his return. After a year filming his Netflix series 'At Home with the Furys,' he declared his intention to get back to winning ways. "I am really looking forward to it. I have been away for a while, but I am back now," Fury recently said.
His promoter, Frank Warren, hinted that a comeback fight could begin with a tune-up bout against Arslanbek Makhmudov, who last fought in October. Warren told BoxNation, “Maybe, we may do that [Makhmudov fight].”
However, Fury's ultimate goals appear grander. He has actively called for a trilogy fight with Oleksandr Usyk and also named British rivals Anthony Joshua and Fabio Wardley on a three-man hit list shared on social media.
Wardley Welcomes the Challenge
Fabio Wardley, the current British heavyweight champion, responded swiftly to being named by Fury. The Suffolk fighter told Sky Sports he would be "extremely keen" to face the returning legend.
"It was good because he was already on mine," Wardley stated. "I'm not going to run off with my belt and not offer it out to anyone. The biggest names out there are the guys I want to be in fights with." He warned Fury, however, that he could prove to be a "banana skin" for any fighter underestimating him.
While Tommy Fury hopes his brother chooses family and health, the burning desire to compete seems to be pulling the 'Gypsy King' back towards the ring, setting the stage for a major boxing storyline in 2026.
