Tuchel Warns England Not to Expect Saka to Solve All Problems

England manager Thomas Tuchel has issued a warning to the England dressing room, urging them not to place excessive expectations on Bukayo Saka. The Arsenal winger has been limited to substitute appearances in England's opening two World Cup games due to an ongoing Achilles issue, but Tuchel emphasized that Saka alone cannot solve the team's problems.

Saka's Fitness and Role

Saka is expected to be fit to start against Panama in the final Group match, and Tuchel admitted that England "desperately" need his quality. However, he stressed that it is wrong to expect too much from the 24-year-old. "I'm not engaging in that, it's not like Bukayo comes back and everything is solved," Tuchel said. "We need it from everyone. He is a top player, that's why he is with us, we need him desperately, like every other player, in top shape, and pushing."

Saka finished the season for Arsenal playing with Achilles tendinitis, and Tuchel had warned ahead of the World Cup that he would struggle to start and finish every game. Despite this, Saka has expressed confidence in his condition. "I am feeling a lot better than I did in March and I'm ready to go," he said. "The main focus right now is winning the World Cup. And being my best version of myself for the team."

Tuchel's Caution

Tuchel reiterated that the team is in a good place despite the difficulties. "Everyone is doing their best, and it's not the moment to shout for individual names to help us out. We're in a good place, still. It was difficult," he said. He added that Saka is getting closer to full fitness, with more training sessions needed before the Panama match. "He's getting there, and there's more and more training sessions, so he needs to have more sessions now. Two sessions to be ready for Panama. Noni Madueke tried everything as well."

Impact on England's Campaign

Saka's potential return to the starting lineup could provide a significant boost for England, who have drawn with Ghana in their previous match. Tuchel acknowledged the need for quality but warned against putting undue pressure on the winger. "It's not only about Bukayo but it was good he got some minutes under his belt. Hopefully, there is no reaction and he is good to go," he concluded.
