England cricketers Harry Brook and Jacob Bethell have been issued caution notices by the Cricket Regulator following an incident on the tour of New Zealand last year. The pair admitted to breaching regulations after an altercation involving a nightclub bouncer in Wellington before the third ODI in October.
Brook was previously fined for his role in the incident, which also involved teammate Josh Tongue. However, the Cricket Regulator has concluded its investigation, with no further action taken against Tongue. Brook and Bethell both played in the third ODI, which England lost by two wickets.
Brook, now England's white-ball captain, has apologised for the incident and for initially suggesting he was alone at the time. In a statement ahead of the T20 World Cup, he said: 'I accept responsibility for my actions in Wellington and acknowledge others were present that evening. I regret my previous comments and my intention was to protect my team-mates from being drawn into a situation that arose as a result of my own decisions.'
He added: 'I have apologised and will continue to reflect on the matter. This has been a challenging period in my career, but one from which I am learning. I recognise I have more to learn regarding the off-field responsibilities that come with leadership and captaincy.'
