The Gunners are sitting pretty at the summit of the Premier League, qualified first from their Champions League group, lead their Carabao Cup semi-final tie against Chelsea ahead of a decisive second leg at home, and have safely navigated their way to an FA Cup fourth round tie against Wigan Athletic. However, Pep Guardiola's sides have proven time and again their capacity to produce relentless winning streaks during the decisive latter stages of a Premier League campaign.
In the League Cup, a competition Arsenal last won in 1993, they face Chelsea in a two-legged semi-final. Mikel Arteta's side earned a valuable 3-2 win in the first leg at Stamford Bridge. In the FA Cup, Arsenal will host League One side Wigan Athletic in the fourth round.
Could This Be Their Year in Europe?
In the Champions League, Arteta's side made history by becoming the first team to win all eight of their league phase matches. Victories over Inter Milan and FC Kairat in January added to earlier wins against Athletic Bilbao, Olympiakos, Atletico Madrid, Slavia Prague, Bayern Munich, and Club Brugge.
The Gunners finished first in the league phase table, securing an automatic place in the round of 16. They will face one of Borussia Dortmund, Olympiacos, Bayer Leverkusen, or Atalanta in March.
