With Pep Guardiola set to leave Manchester City after the Premier League season ends, the former Barcelona chief is assured to go down as one of the all-time managerial greats.
Guardiola's Legacy at Manchester City
That's it, then. One of the greatest managerial reigns in Premier League history is now officially in its final throes. There have been rumblings for months that Pep Guardiola was preparing to bid Manchester City adieu after a decade of domestic dominance. And on the eve of their seismic game away at Bournemouth, which will determine whether or not the Spaniard could yet sign off with a seventh Premier League title, the news plenty had been expecting finally came.
Guardiola has made top-flight history during his time at City, who became the first ever English team to win four consecutive league titles during the 55-year-old's tutelage. He has also won a glut of domestic cups, including his third FA Cup just last weekend. City also won the Carabao Cup back in March, meaning Guardiola and City will already end the season with a cup double.
Comparing the Greats
With Guardiola now poised to move onto pastures new, debate over where the former Barcelona manager sits in the pantheon of great Premier League managers will take centre stage. The likes of Sir Alex Ferguson is widely considered to be the best manager of the Premier League era and is certainly the most decorated with a staggering 13 titles won since the top division's rebrand in 1992.
Other greats, too, such as Arsene Wenger and Jose Mourinho will also be compared to Manchester City's kingpin, while arguably his greatest Premier League rival, the former Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp, will also have fans.
