Bournemouth Secure Hard-Fought Premier League Victory at Wolves
Bournemouth earned a hard-fought 2-0 Premier League victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux on Saturday, with goals from Junior Kroupi and Alex Scott sealing a crucial three points for the Cherries.
The result represents Bournemouth's third league win in their last four outings, providing a significant boost to their campaign. For basement side Wolves, however, it marked a first home defeat of 2026 and compounded their relegation worries with an 18th loss of the season.
Kroupi Strikes After Wolves' Costly Error
Wolves had started the match brightly, with Mateus Mane seeing a headed goal disallowed for an offside call against Rodrigo Gomes. The hosts arguably edged the opening half-hour, but were cruelly punished for their first major mistake.
The breakthrough came when Wolves midfielder Andre gifted possession in a dangerous area. Alex Scott drove forward, found Amine Adli, who teed up 19-year-old Junior Kroupi. The young striker produced a lovely dipping finish over the despairing dive of goalkeeper Jose Sa for his eighth goal of the campaign.
That goal exposed Wolves' defensive fragility and handed control to Bournemouth, who nearly doubled their lead before the break, only for Sa to scramble and deny Adli.
Petrovic Heroics and Woodwork Deny Wolves
Wolves pushed hard for an equaliser in the second half but found Bournemouth's defence and goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic in resilient form. Petrovic was forced into a string of saves to preserve the Cherries' lead.
The home side's best chance arrived just after the hour mark, when Hugo Bueno found Tolu Arokodare inside the area, but his point-blank effort was directed straight at Petrovic. Later, Yerson Mosquera thought he had headed Wolves level, only to see his effort strike the post.
Joao Gomes also hit the woodwork for Wolves, while Hee Chan Hwang sent a free-kick straight into Petrovic's hands. Despite their endeavour, Wolves were unable to break down a determined Bournemouth backline.
Scott Seals Victory as Rayan Impresses on Debut
Bournemouth introduced new signing Rayan for his debut with a quarter of the game remaining, following his arrival from Vasco Da Gama this week. The substitute made an immediate impact with an energetic cameo.
Rayan's reward came late in the game when he set up Alex Scott for a simple finish from inside the six-yard box, emphatically sealing all three points. Scott's goal secured Bournemouth's first away win since a 1-0 victory at Tottenham in August, sparking a mass exodus of home supporters.
The defeat extends Wolves' miserable run to back-to-back losses, halting what had been a bright start to 2026. For Bournemouth, this hard-fought victory on the road provides significant momentum as they continue to climb the Premier League table.
