England Lionesses Reach Euro 2025 Final After Italy Thriller

Chloe Kelly scored the winner from a rebound after her saved penalty in extra time, as England came from behind to beat Italy 2-1 in the Euro 2025 semi-final in Geneva. Michelle Agyemang scored the equaliser in the final minute of added time to force extra time, continuing England's remarkable comeback habit.

Barbara Bonansea had given Italy the lead in the first half, capitalising on a cross from Sofia Cantore that deflected off Lucy Bronze. Italy, seeking their first final since 1997, defended resolutely until Agyemang's late intervention.

England manager Sarina Wiegman made one change from the quarter-final win over Sweden, bringing in Esme Morgan for Jess Carter. The Lionesses dominated possession but struggled to break down a well-organised Italian side until the dramatic late equaliser.

Kelly, who scored the winner in the 2022 final, repeated the feat after being introduced as a substitute with 13 minutes of normal time remaining. The 30,000-capacity Stade de Genève was filled predominantly with England supporters, who celebrated a third successive final appearance.

England had earlier escaped group D after a poor opening performance against France, and came from two goals down against Sweden to win on penalties. The Lionesses will now face either Germany or Spain in the final.
