Former Barcelona and Middlesbrough striker Martin Braithwaite has built a property empire worth over £200 million, according to reports. The 34-year-old Denmark international, who currently plays for Brazilian club Gremio, began investing in real estate in 2017 alongside his brother and business partner, Philip Michael.
Braithwaite's first investment was around £600,000 in the United States. Within a year, his stake had grown to approximately £7.2 million, and his real estate holdings are now valued at around £200 million. His portfolio focuses on the purchase, development, and management of rental properties in US cities including Philadelphia and New Jersey.
Speaking about his success, Braithwaite said: "It started with our family having been in the real estate business for a long time. Here, you will find that one of the ways you can build a fortune and secure your future financially is by investing in real estate." He has also diversified into fashion and restaurants, including a women's clothing brand and culinary ventures such as Braithwaite's Kitchen and Playa Paris, the latter recently opened in Brazil by his wife, French journalist Anne-Laure.
Braithwaite joined Middlesbrough from Toulouse for £9 million in 2017, scoring nine goals in 40 appearances before a loan move to Bordeaux. He later played for Barcelona, scoring 10 goals in 58 appearances and winning the Copa del Rey in 2021. He now joins a list of former footballers with extraordinary wealth, including Louis Saha and Mathieu Flamini.
