Tottenham Hotspur's interim manager, Igor Tudor, is mourning the death of his father, Mario, following the team's 3-0 Premier League defeat to Nottingham Forest. Tudor was unable to fulfil his media duties after the match due to the bereavement, with assistant Bruno Saltor stepping in to address the press.
Saltor declined to provide details on what he described as a 'personal family issue'. Juventus, where Tudor previously played and managed, released a statement offering condolences, saying: 'Juventus stands with Igor Tudor and his family at this difficult time. Juventus joins in mourning the passing of his father.' Tottenham also issued a statement expressing deep sadness and offering thoughts to Tudor and his family.
The loss leaves Spurs in 17th place, just one point above the relegation zone, with seven matches remaining. Captain Cristian Romero acknowledged the gravity of the situation, calling the remaining games 'seven finals' and vowing to give '200%' to avoid relegation for the first time since 1977.
Despite a spirited pre-match atmosphere, with an estimated 10,000 fans greeting the team bus, Spurs fell apart in the second half. Goals from Morgan Gibbs-White and Taiwo Awoniyi sealed Forest's victory, extending Tottenham's winless league run to 13 matches. Romero praised the fans' support but admitted the team must do more.
